DYC newsletter 2022-12

The past weekend saw four 420s out on the course, as well as a Mirror and a gallant solo Opi. Race results were close - congratulations to Justin, Riley and Ben, and Henri, Flynn and Lachlan who took honours respectively.

This weekend we are planning a more freeflow sailing weekend (an Adventure Sail to a currently unknown location) and returning to the Rivermouth for sausage sizzle.

Planning is underway for our upcoming Optimist Regatta. Our juniors are encouraged to register for the Regatta, and to plot their training over the coming month accordingly. You can find further details here, or via our Club Facebook page. Follow this link for a copy of the Racing Rules of Sailing.

We will also be launching our first school holiday training programme shortly. This is a great opportunity for the club to reach out to new members and build some more community presence. Many thanks to Allan for driving this, and for making his time available to lead the course.

Members will also by now have noticed  that we have a website live - this is still a work in progress, but hopefully it will continue to evolve over the coming months, and come into its own next season with online registration etc. Part of this process will be loading member details onto our database - if you find that your details are incorrect, please get in touch.

Lastly, after a highly successful combined sailing day with the Walpole Yacht Club last week it has been proposed that the first Sunday of each month will be a Walpole day, and take the place of the Club Saturday of those weekends. Please keep and eye on the calendar for confirmed dates (subject to change!).
